Arena Tiling Ltd was recently appointed as
the tiling contractor to undertake the design
and installation on all wall and floor tiling
work at the £28m new Torquay Community
College Project.
The main contractor, Interserve, enlisted the
skills of Arena to source tile samples and plan
tile layouts to meet the school's approval prior to
installation.
The project has a tiling element of £120,000,
with over 2500m² of wall and floor tiling. The floor
tiling works run throughout the first and ground
floor of the seven-zoned building – from large
communal seating areas to foyers, lunch rooms,
corridors and toilet blocks.
Nicholls and Clarke's Margres tiles in a black
natural finish were selected for installation.
Furthermore, the toilet blocks all had a Margres
floor tile in cream laid reference along with a 150
x 150mm Ivory Nicobond tile on the walls.
The project demonstrates how floor tiles can
be utilised in an appealing and practical way,
whilst meeting the lower maintenance required
for busy school traffic.
